Open the door to your dreams At Thomson Timber we offer a complete package for the design and construction of traditional post and beam timber framed buildings.

We design buildings to suit your specific needs, process it through your local Planning and Building Control Departments providing all the necessary documentation required, manufacture and finally construct your dream project and add the finishing touches.

The desire for hand crafted, ecologically sound and more sustainable buildings for the future is good news for us all.

At Thomson Timber it is our commitment to these principles which results in the buildings we produce.

We source our trees locally, from managed forests to reduce the carbon footprint of our business.

We use European larch (Larix decidua) for the main timber frame structure and the exterior cladding as this species is naturally resistant to fungal attack and the elements needing no further chemical treatment. Our Russian and Nordic friends can't be wrong!

We control the total supply chain from the local forest to finally constructing your new timber framed building which eliminates many of the potential delays and problems that can otherwise result.

Timber is one of the most ecologically friendly building materials available. When wood is growing, huge amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere are absorbed by day, and clean oxygen released overnight. The carbon dioxide remains 'locked up' in the timber until it is burnt or returns to the natural cycle. Our timber is locally grown in Scotland reducing our carbon footprint. The use of timber stimulates the forestry trade which responds by planting more trees.
