We run Timber Framing Courses in Scotland and France

These courses are definitely for you if you love working with wood!

Whether you are planning a project of your own or would like to try out a new skill. We aim to give you an understanding of this traditional craft and enjoy the learning experience.

We have adopted an American system of timber framing which is simpler to use than the traditional English method of  'Scribing'.  It does however require the use of  accurately machined and stable timber preferably Larch or Douglas Fir.

info iconFive Day Introductory Timber Framing Course in Fife to be held May 28th - June 2nd 2012.

These five day courses are led by James Thomson, owner of a successful timber framing business with over 15 years teaching experience.  You will be taken through the process of manufacturing a small garden building using traditional carpentry methods.

Thomson Timber is located on the outskirts of the village of Star in Fife only 40 minutes from Edinburgh, Perth and Dundee.  St Andrews is a 30 minute drive.

The courses are held on a 1.5 acre site with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside.  Mid-morning coffee and light lunch will be provided by James' wife, Margaret.

We can recommend good local B&B's for your stay with us.
